Lower Salford > Reading Workshop (February 2008)

On any given day, children select their own text, read independently, conference with peers and their teacher, browse mentor texts (different genres), and talk about the books they're reading in literature discussion groups. Students in fifth grade are expected to read 25 chapter books (various genres) to earn a proficient score by the end of the year. They may also be doing guided reading with their teacher.
