Watch it for news of events, volunteering opportunities, copies of notices sent home in the Communicator, etc. The board outside the cafeteria will hold the monthly calendar of events as well as notices from H&S. We also will have a board for the teachers in their workroom to help keep them updated on al H&S activities too. No volunteers are needed at present.
Coin Drive

Every spring classrooms collect coins for a worthy cause. Last year we raised enough money to purchase some new equipment for the playground. We hope to have it installed shortly after school starts. Volunteers are needed to help collect the money from the classrooms.

We need someone to assist Lori this year to learn the job for next year. Lori's daughter is in 5th grade and she will not be here to run Fundraising for us after this year!!!

We will need a lot of volunteers to help plan, set- up the event, help out on event day, and clean up afterwards.
Homeroom Parents

Homeroom parents arrange the classroom socials for the children. Socials held 3 times each year and provide some fun for the kids. The parties usually contain a craft and a community service project.

- Winter Sing-A-Long & Social - Wednesday, December 23 at 1:30p.m.
- Valentine's Social - Friday, February 13 at 2:00p.m.
If you are interested, sign up on the Volunteer form that will come home in the Communicator at the beginning of the year. Volunteers plan the parties and attend during the socials to help out with the kids. You will also need to attend an organizational meeting at the beginning of the year. Linda is full of ideas to help out with the planning of the parties. If there are enough volunteers for each room then the duties can be shared better.
Hospitality
Chairperson: Bernadette Waskiewicz
Executive Committee Liaison: Anne McCausland
Hospitality helps us express our appreciation to the teachers and staff at school throughout the year. We offer a Back to School teacher luncheon during the last week of August prior to school starting. We provide dinner for the teachers one evening during the November parent/teacher conferences since the teachers do not get to go home for dinner. We also offer some token of appreciation to the teachers and staff on secretary's day; counselor's day; support staff week; administrative professional's day; nurse's day; and teacher appreciation week. We need volunteers to help plan, make some food; and set up the luncheon and dinner. We also need someone to work with Bernadette this year in order to take this Committee over next year.

Race for Education is an annual jog-a-thon that involves students of all ages walking or jogging around a designated area for one hour. We hope to make this a fun-filled family day in the spring. Many volunteers are needed and anyone interested should contact Anne for more information.
Spirit Day

On Friday's throughout the school year, the children are encouraged to show their school spirit by wearing shirts with the Lower Salford logo or in the school colors of blue and yellow. The class with the most kids showing their school spirit wins the honor of having the Spirit Trophy in their classroom for the week. The winning classis announced over the loud speaker and is a source of pride for the kids. The person in charge of this activity would be responsible for going to school on Friday and making the presentation of the trophy to the winning class. No other volunteers are needed for this Committee.

Volunteering / Hands Across the District
Coordinators: Alicia Crossgrove & Kristin Ruff
Alicia & Kristin have put a great deal of effort into establishing an efficient system to coordinate all of our volunteers. We want to make sure that everyone who wants to participate can participate. That is our #1 goal! We want everyone's participation for whatever amount of time they can manage with their busy lives. This Hands program was initiated to organize all of the volunteers who share their time with the school and to make sure each volunteer complies with the guidelines established by the School District. All volunteers must sign up with the Hands Coordinators, and get a TB tine test done before they may volunteer at school. The test is given free of charge by the school nurse. Also, each volunteer must sign in at the school's front desk whenever they arrive.
Welcome Committee
Co-Chairperson: Eileen Solomon
Co-Chairperson: Rhonda Krolikowski
Welcome Families: Rose Buetikofer, Natalie Gurka, Sam Handwerk, Rhonda Krolikowski, Amy Kelly, Anne McCausland, Eileen Solomon
New this year! We are beginning a Committee to welcome new families into the school each year. That would include new families at the beginning of the year as well as anyone who joins the school throughout the school year. We want to make children and the families feel like they are part of the Lower Salford Community. We would like to match up a liaison family with each new incoming family. That way we can help them transition into the school.
