What we Fund:

  • Back to School Bash: All Lower Salford families are invited to the playground to celebrate the new school year. Food is served and music is played. It is a great chance to come out and meet other families; teachers, and staff of Lower Salford. This year we will have a June Jamboree instead. Volunteers are needed for planning the event, set-up, serving food, and clean-up.

  • Prime Time Night: This is a reading-centered night out at school. H&S hopes to instill in the children a love of reading. Volunteers are needed to help plan the evening, as well as group and activity leaders for the night of Prime time. No experience is necessary. The fall Prime Time is for grades 3,4 & 5. The spring event is for grades K-2.

  • Lip Sync: Any student may participate in an on-stage "lip sync" performance of their favorite songs. Volunteers are needed to help plan the event, distribute sign-up sheets, supervise acts & rehearsals, create the show program, emcee the event, communicate with parents, and supervise children on the night of the performance.

  • Fifth Grade Picnic: Fifth graders go to Perkiomen Valley Park to have a picnic and play games. Volunteers are needed to help coordinate, cook, and serve the lunch.

  • Field Trips: H&S subsidizes the field trips to lower the cost to each child. We pay $12 per child. That means less out of pocket cost to each family. We want to make sure that each and every child at school can participate in all of the field trips offered.

  • Assemblies/ Academic Programs: H&S works with the teachers to pay for and choose educational assemblies/ classroom programs that the kids would otherwise not get.

  • Assignment Books for Grades 3, 4, & 5: H&S purchases the assignment books used by the 3rd, 4th & 5th grade students.

  • SAFE Kids Line: H&S pays for the dedicated phone line for this service, and the magnets distributed with their phone number.

  • Hospitality: H&S provides a teacher luncheon during the last week of August as the teachers prepare their classrooms for the arrival of the children. The Association also provides dinner to the teacher's one evening in November during the week of parent/ teacher conferences since the teachers do not get to go home for dinner. At the beginning of the school year, each teacher is given money to help them get ready for school as H&S knows they spend a great deal of their own money doing that. This year, $100.00 was given to the full-time teachers and $50.00 was given to the part-time teachers.

  • Newsletter: H&S publishes a newsletter several times a year reporting on school activities.

  • Kidsville Character Award: H&S awards a $500 prize to a Souderton High School senior who attended Lower Salford Elementary and best exemplifies the spirit of the Kidsville Code.
